UK and Italy Picture Post

Here's some pics from our recent trip to the UK and Italy. It was a wonderful 10 days. I must confess it was tough being away from Kenzie for so long but she was in good hands back home in Tupelo with Honey. We had over a 1,000 pictures to choose from so I tried to grab the best...

London

Time is on a different scale here....

 Buckingham Palace
Ollivander's wand shop for the Harry Potter fans out there-
 Vatican museums in Rome

The Sistine Chapel...we had a private tour guide that allowed us to spend about 30 minutes in the room with just our small group. The new Pope was elected here just a few weeks ago!

The view out of our hotel room! Look familiar?
 The ancient city ruins...
The Pantheon in Rome...an ancient pagan temple converted to a christian church

The large dome opens to the sky....
 Trevi fountain...
The Spanish Steps....
 Inside the Roman Coliseum
An old Italian eatery....best eggplant parmesan in the world!
The amazing Basilica of St. Peter
 Michelangelo's Pieta...

 The dome....

Meet Pope Innocent XI...he died in 1689!
We decided to climb the steps to the top of the dome. Here we are at the halfway point...look how small the people look for scale.
View of the Vatican Gardens from the top of the dome...

Italian coffee is strong...in fact coffee is an espresso over there. If you want our coffee you have to ask for "American coffee". Here we can see Mrs Peg 'doctoring' her coffee just a bit..
We ended our time in Rome with a night walking tour...what an amazing city!
The real treat was coming home to Kenzie. Honey kept her busy with lots of fun, games, and learning. I think we missed her a lot more than she missed us! It was a great trip but there's no place like home!

Lots of Fall Fun!

Fall has been pretty busy so far but you can bet we've had some fun. Recently we made a trip down to Biloxi to celebrate Grandma Mable's 90th Birthday. Fortunately she was generous enough to share her purple balloons with Kenzie....

 and some of her cupcakes!
We also traveled to Water Valley to spend some time with Babe and Gran. Kenzie kept picking flowers for Babe to "put in her hair so she will laugh". See how things progressed.....

 Doesn't Babe look tropical?

We got to have some of Babe's bread for breakfast at Honey and Pop's house. It's one of our favorite things to eat!
A trip to Water Valley is never complete without a stop at the BTC for breakfast or lunch!
Honey came to spend some time at our house over the weekend. Kenzie and Honey drew faces on some mini-pumpkins...I think Kenzie is pretty proud of their work!
Kenzie couldn't wait to work on carving the pumpkin. She helped so much this year and wasn't afraid of the "gooey" stuff at all

 Admiring her work.....
The week of Halloween was spent in Birmingham. They have an annual "Boo at the Zoo" that turned out to be great fun. As you can see Kenzie wanted to be a piglet (like Olivia) again this year. Needless to say our little pig was a little more chunky this year! Leaving the hotel....

There were lots of fun things to do at the zoo. There was a trick or treating village set up for the children.
Kenzie wanted to ask for candy at each booth by herself...
On the carousel...
A cool shot of Jennifer and Kenzie on the carousel

Back home the leaves are falling- Kenzie decided to get a head start on the raking-

Perfect weather for a picnic....event Tux is in heaven!
Kenzie reminds me all the time to stop and smell the flowers! Gonna make sure I do that this week!
